OUR INSPIRATION

Children come into this world as explorers with no instructions. Parents often say the same about their role as parents, but we have the rest of our world from which to gain support. Children, though, are born with nothing more than a family to direct their every move towards civilization. The problem is, grownups believe they have all the answers and know best, but I have learned we would all do well to learn from our children.

Children are born with inherent genius to figure life out. An 18 month old can sit for hours learning to screw lids on jars or match lid sizes to tupperware. They take a stack of paper cups and make a tall tower out of them. Children can take a pile of junk and come up with surprising ways to play with them. Their imaginations know no bounds and are not hampered by judgement. They know the freedom that comes from racing around a playground.

As a nanny of small children for nearly a decade I relearned spontaneous play, something we all miss in our structured adult lives.

I also worked with adolescents and pre-teens worried about impending adulthood. I heard firsthand the pressures they faced growing up, becoming mature, giving up their dreams and facing a life of responsibility ahead as imposed by their families. How many artists are told to go to college and major in a Real Job so they could work when they failed at their passion? That statement implies dreams cannot come true, an adult idea if ever I've heard one. Watch your children and if you see a real commitment to their passions, never hold them back. Don't let your fears about their future become theirs. Children are much more inclined to work hard at what they love than attend college and try to find work in a job doing something that doesn't inspire them.

At Wondering Child, we are all about inspiration. Our goal is to provide your child with toys that continually encourage and inspire their inherent genius. Kids want to create, build, pretend, engage their brain in activities that are fun because everyone enjoys being mentally stimulated.

We do not sell toys that blink, flash and beep -- unless your child is doing those things to animate their creation.

Please read our BLOGS in which I will share tidbits I learned from working with more than 140 families and more than 200 kids. . :-)

Have a wondering-ful day!

All the best in JOY,

Christina Rose, CFO (Chief Fun Officer) of Wondering Child
