Small Magnetic Wooden Blocks

Wondering Child Loves blocks! For children over 4 years of age, they can be an engineering tool that pushes their patience, tolerance for difficulty, and teaches them about the ways in which the world builds. Even birds use engineering in designing their nests. Beavers build dams for their families.  What will your child design?

Children from 4-9 will not only build beyond their expectations but they also learn to accept  failure, perhaps one of the greatest lessons of all. Learning to fail is learning to succeed. None of the great inventions were done without many failures before success. Failing is not being afraid to try.

Tell kids: Yes. Your tower fell and we will clap and laugh at the grand clatter and start again, this time a little more carefully.

Children from 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 often do not have the patience to learn about failure. Tantrums are common at these younger ages, and their struggle to succeed is so important to them.  Failure may be a little too heartbreaking at this tender tiny toddler age.

For younger toddlers, Magnetic Wooden Blocks are the answer! Be aware though that these blocks are too small (3/4 of an inch) for children younger than 2 1/2 and 3 1/2 unless you are engaged in play with them and they are very well supervised.

Think of these as Blocks 101.  There is a lot to be learned from them. Toddlers can build and the towers will not fall as easily. For older children, these blocks offer a great opportunity to create intricate designs and creativity. Because of the magnets, building a lion standing on all fours could be possible.

Parents: Children may build towers with blocks but your encouragement and appreciation of their efforts will build a whole child. Be nearby. Comment on the lack of sturdiness and the fragility of their design. Encourage them when the blocks fall. It is expected!

Be in the game with them, whether you are playing or sitting on the couch with a magazine or book. Be there with and for their creations!
